Singapore companies planning new automation projects involving sophisticated hardware or software, machinery integration, system deployment, staff training or resource optimisation with measurable improvements in productivity, energy, carbon, water or waste outcomes.

Typical Project Examples

Automation projects may include integrated machinery systems, production automation, robotics, workflow automation, resource efficiency systems, equipment-linked software, smart factory upgrades and technology deployment projects requiring staff training and measurable efficiency improvements.

Key Eligibility Notes

Applicants must be registered and operating in Singapore, have at least 30% local shareholding, and be financially ready to start and complete the project. Projects must be new and should not have commenced before application. Automation projects should involve meaningful technology adoption or development, system integration, staff deployment training or measurable resource efficiency gains. Basic equipment, laptops, mobile devices, PSG-supported solutions, replacement of faulty equipment, and conventional off-the-shelf solutions are generally not suitable.

Grant eligibility depends on the latest programme requirements, company profile, project scope, timing and supporting evidence. RIC assesses grant fit based on the specific project context.

What does EDG Automation support?
It supports Singapore companies undertaking automation and technology projects that improve resource efficiency, productivity or operational performance through new systems, machinery, software or integrated solutions.


What support level applies?
Local SMEs may receive up to 50% support for eligible costs, subject to Enterprise Singapore’s assessment, qualifying costs and approved project scope.


What costs may be supported?
Qualifying project costs may include third-party consultancy fees, software, equipment and internal manpower costs tied to the approved automation project.


What kinds of automation projects may qualify?
Projects may include sophisticated hardware or software solutions, machinery and systems integration, automation deployment, staff training and resource optimisation with measurable efficiency improvements.


Can the project start before application?
No. EDG projects must be new. A project may be considered commenced if work has started, payment has been made or a contract has been signed before application.


Can EDG Automation support basic equipment purchases?
Usually no. Basic equipment and gadgets such as copiers, laptops, tablets and mobile phones are not suitable under this automation track.


Can EDG support solutions already covered by PSG?
Equipment and software costs supported under the Productivity Solutions Grant are generally not covered under EDG Automation.


Can replacement of old equipment be supported?
Replacement of faulty equipment, or replacement with little change in resource efficiency or capabilities, is generally not suitable unless part of a larger integrated system.


Can sustainability-related resource optimisation be included?
Yes. Resource optimisation projects may include measurable reductions in carbon emissions, energy consumption, waste generation or water consumption.
