Announced under Singapore’s refreshed National AI Strategy in 2026, the Missions focus on four priority sectors: Advanced Manufacturing, Financial Services, Connectivity and Healthcare.

Singapore’s National AI Missions are sector-wide transformation programmes designed to move beyond isolated AI pilots.

 

The Government has said the Missions will focus on sharp, sector-specific problem statements and build full-stack ecosystems around them, including datasets, computing resources, regulatory sandboxes, research capabilities and solution providers.

 

The goal is to shorten the path from AI development to deployment, and from testing to scale.

 

Singapore is starting with four sectors where it already has strong global positions: Advanced Manufacturing, Financial Services, Connectivity and Healthcare.

 

The Short Answer: There Is No General “National AI Mission Grant”

 

Companies should not look for a single National AI Mission application portal or expect a standard grant with a fixed support percentage.

 

The Missions sit above individual funding schemes.

 

A company may benefit through an R&D programme, research collaboration, testbed, regulatory sandbox, public-sector or large-enterprise procurement opportunity, capability-building grant, investment incentive or another agency-led initiative.

 

Specific opportunities are likely to emerge through different government agencies, sector programmes, consortia and calls over time.

 

The Four National AI Missions

 

1. Advanced Manufacturing

 

Advanced Manufacturing is one of the most developed Mission areas so far.

 

Singapore has identified three broad objectives: using AI and robotics to create best-in-class manufacturing facilities, using AI to accelerate product and process innovation, and driving broader AI adoption across the manufacturing sector.

 

Relevant technologies include embodied AI, robotics, digital twins, predictive maintenance, computer vision, AI-assisted product design and process optimisation.

 

Companies most likely to benefit include manufacturers, industrial AI firms, robotics companies, semiconductor and electronics players, precision-engineering businesses, simulation providers and digital-twin companies.

 

2. Financial Services

 

The Financial Services Mission is intended to accelerate AI-led transformation across Singapore’s financial ecosystem.

 

Potential high-value areas include compliance automation, fraud and financial-crime detection, risk management, operational resilience, agentic finance and new AI-enabled financial products.

 

Likely beneficiaries include banks, insurers, fintech companies, RegTech firms, cybersecurity providers, data infrastructure companies and AI-native financial software businesses.

 

Unlike transport and healthcare, no equivalent standalone Mission funding pot has yet been publicly defined, so MAS and existing financial-sector innovation programmes are likely to remain important channels.

 

3. Connectivity

 

The Connectivity Mission covers aviation, maritime, ports, logistics and land transport.

 

Singapore is using AI, autonomy, robotics and digital twins to address operational problems across its transport ecosystem.

 

In July 2026, the Ministry of Transport announced S$800 million over five years for transport research and innovation, with projects arising from the AI Connectivity Mission among the areas to be supported.

4. Healthcare

 

The Healthcare Mission focuses on using AI to improve clinical outcomes, preventive care and healthcare productivity.

MOH has committed S$2.5 billion over five years under RIE2030 for translational and clinical research, including AI for Healthier SG, alongside a S$200 million Health Innovation Fund that supports healthcare innovation including AI.

National AI R&D Plan

 

Singapore committed more than S$1 billion from 2025 to 2030 under the National AI Research and Development Plan.

 

The plan supports fundamental AI research, applied AI research and talent development, with applied capabilities intended to support industry transformation and national priorities.

 

Connectivity

 

The Ministry of Transport has committed S$800 million over five years for transport research and innovation.

 

About two-thirds of this investment will build capabilities in autonomy and digital twins for connectivity across aviation, maritime and land transport.

 

Healthcare

 

MOH has committed S$2.5 billion over five years under RIE2030 to strengthen translational and clinical research.

Advanced Manufacturing
