About the Client and Project
Client Profile
The client is a well-established Chinese language education provider in Singapore with more than two decades of operating history. It offers language courses for children, adults, and corporate clients, and specialises in MOE-approved enrichment programmes for preschool, primary, and secondary school students. The company has served more than 30,000 students across multiple locations and built a strong reputation for quality teaching and personalised learning support.
Project Nature
The project involved implementing a custom ERP system to streamline the client’s education operations. The system addressed student management, course registration, tutor scheduling, billing, HR management, financial tracking, student portal access, online registration, and payment status visibility. The project aimed to reduce manual administrative work, improve operational visibility, strengthen customer service, and create a more scalable operating model for the education provider.
Funding Objective and Challenge
Funding Objective
The funding objective was to support the client’s enterprise digitalisation project through the Enterprise Development Grant. The grant funded qualifying costs linked to a custom ERP system that automated and integrated student management, registration, scheduling, billing, HR, and finance workflows. The project was intended to reduce administrative effort, improve parent and student experience, support faster payment collection, and allow the business to scale across more courses and students without proportionate increases in overhead.
The Challenge
The client had grown into a well-established Chinese language education provider in Singapore, serving children, adults, and corporate clients across multiple locations. With more than 30,000 students served over two decades, the business needed a stronger operating system to manage student enrolment, course registration, tutor scheduling, billing, HR, and financial tracking. The challenge was to frame the ERP project as a proper enterprise digitalisation initiative that would improve scalability and student experience, not simply a software implementation.
How RIC Supported the Client
RIC scoped and prepared the full EDG project proposal for the client’s custom ERP implementation.
RIC’s support included:
• Conducting a needs assessment across student management, course registration, billing, HR, scheduling, and financial tracking.
• Designing the ERP project scope around the client’s operational pain points and growth requirements.
• Supporting vendor selection and integration planning with the chosen ERP solution provider.
• Structuring the project narrative around operational efficiency, student experience, scalability, and digital workflow integration.
• Overseeing implementation planning, including system setup, data migration, and integration with existing operations.
• Supporting training and change management so staff could adopt the new system smoothly.
RIC’s role was to help the client convert its operational bottlenecks into a fundable ERP digitalisation project with clear productivity, service, and growth outcomes.
Outcome
FUNDING SECURED
SG$47,450
The client secured SG$47,450 in EDG support, covering up to 70% of project costs. The ERP system reduced manual processes by 53.9%, saving 1,558 administrative hours annually across student registration, payment processing, and scheduling. It also improved student and parent access through a student portal and online registration system, reduced administrative costs by SG$150,000 annually, supported SG$300,000 in increased revenue, and helped the business scale to serve more students and courses without increasing overhead.
What This Means for Similar Companies
For education providers, ERP projects are strongest when they are tied directly to student experience and operational scalability. A fundable case should show how the system improves enrolment, scheduling, payment, communication, and internal administration, not just that the business needs software. This case shows how enrichment centres, training providers, and education businesses can use digitalisation to reduce manual work while improving service quality and growth capacity.
