About the Client and Project

Client Profile

The client is a well-established Singapore auto-financing group founded in 1976, with over S$15 million in annual revenue and S$110 million in total assets. It has grown from a small four-person team into a multi-entity group with businesses spanning auto-financing, premium pre-owned car trading, commercial vehicle leasing, real estate, fine wine trading, and storage. The group also maintains partnerships with major banks and car dealerships in Singapore.

Project Nature

The project involved implementing a custom ERP system to digitise and integrate the client’s core auto-financing and back-office operations. The system addressed pain points across commission tracking, loan repayment monitoring, customer records, accounting, automotive hire purchase, block discount financing, and finance workflows. Rather than adopting a generic software tool, the client needed a customised operating platform that could reduce manual handling, improve case visibility, support real-time tracking, and create stronger coordination between business, finance, and operations teams.

Funding Objective and Challenge

Funding Objective

The funding objective was to support the client’s digital transformation under the Enterprise Development Grant’s Innovation & Productivity, Process Redesign category. The grant covered up to 70% of eligible implementation and consultancy costs for the ERP system. The project was intended to reduce manual handling, improve productivity, strengthen data accuracy, streamline financing workflows, improve repayment and commission tracking, and support the client’s broader growth strategy, including expansion into luxury pre-owned vehicle sales.

The Challenge

The client had grown into a multi-entity group with diversified business arms, but many core workflows still relied on fragmented manual processes. Commission tracking, loan repayment monitoring, customer records, accounting workflows, and financing operations created significant administrative drag, with more than 320 hours lost weekly in manual handling. The challenge was to frame the ERP rollout as a process redesign project with measurable productivity gains, not just software implementation. The grant case had to show how a customised ERP system would improve operational control, reduce errors, strengthen inter-department workflows, and support future business scaling.

How RIC Supported the Client

RIC supported the client in structuring and submitting its EDG application for a custom ERP transformation project.

RIC’s support included:

• Mapping fragmented manual workflows across commission tracking, loan repayment, customer records, accounting, and financing operations.

• Quantifying inefficiencies, including over 320 hours lost weekly in manual handling.

• Framing the project under EDG’s Innovation & Productivity, Process Redesign category.

• Supporting vendor evaluation and cost planning for a customised ERP system tailored to automotive financing workflows.

• Building financial modelling around productivity gains, ROI, annual time savings, and professional image uplift.

• Structuring the implementation plan, including phased rollout timelines, user training, finance and operations integration, and system testing protocols.

• Managing submission requirements through the Business Grants Portal, including cost itemisation, milestone planning, consultant justifications, and final reporting.

RIC’s role was to translate a legacy-operations problem into a fundable ERP digitalisation case with clear execution logic and measurable productivity impact.

Outcome

FUNDING SECURED

Close to S$100,000

The client secured close to S$100,000 in EDG support for the ERP implementation. The project integrated automotive hire purchase, block discount financing, and finance functions into a single system. It eliminated over 10,000 manual hours annually, unlocked more than S$700,000 in time value over three years, improved financing case handling productivity by 25%, enabled real-time tracking of repayments and commissions, and reduced errors in accounts reconciliation.

What This Means for Similar Companies

For established companies with legacy workflows, enterprise digitalisation is rarely just about installing ERP software. The strongest grant cases show how the system redesigns core operations, reduces manual work, improves visibility, and supports future scale. This case is relevant for financing, leasing, logistics, trading, and multi-entity businesses where operational complexity has outgrown spreadsheets and manual tracking. A strong EDG application must connect system implementation to quantified inefficiencies, productivity gains, workflow integration, and business expansion readiness.
